Bubny, Prague

This project is searching for potential. The site is on the main Prague’s avenue – Magistrala – the route from Rome to Berlin (E55).

This concept is based on infrastructure. The place is an intersection of several levels allowing different streams of different speeds to flow independently. Highway at the speed of 100km per hour is at a different level than local connections of older parts and pedestrian promenade. This creates several parterres of various characters, perceived in a different speed. Facade along the highway is a shop window with 100 000 visitors a day.

The aim is not to define the final appearance or identify the functions in the territory, but to create a framework for future development. The mass of buildings is defined schematically knowing that the real buildings should be diverse and should reflect the economic strength of the place.
